Plants and Seeds
Plants grow from seeds, which contain the genetic blueprint for a new organism. Seeds require the right conditions—water, soil, and sunlight—to germinate. As they develop, plants produce oxygen, food, and habitats, sustaining life on Earth.

Lakpura Polpala Plants (Aerva lanata) are perennial herbs native to Sri Lanka, known in Sinhala as Polpala or Polkudu pala. Growing up to 2 meters tall, the plant features cylindrical stems and branches covered in fine whitish or yellowish hair. Its simple, alternate leaves and silky white to creamy flower spikes give it a distinct appearance. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine, the whole plant is valued for its powerful healing properties. Polpala is renowned for treating kidney and bladder disorders, urethral discharge, sore throat, eye complaints, gonorrhoea, and even snake bites. Medicinally, it functions as a diuretic, demulcent, anthelmintic, lithontriptic, and helps reduce Pitta dosha. Both the leaves and young stems are edible, contributing to its versatile use in natural health remedies.
